Vitamin C Reduces the DNA Damage in Breast Cancer Patients

Breast cancer is a cancer that starts in the tissues of the breast. Risk of developing breast cancer increases as you get older. Most advanced breast cancer cases are found in women over age 50. Women are 100 times more likely to get breast cancer than men.Patients who is taking chemotherapy for breast cancer is better to take vitamin C and E daily. It helps to reduce the DNA damage which is induced by cancer treatment. They can prevent lipid peroxidation in tissues because water soluble capacity of vitamin C and oil solubility of vitamin E. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species have side effects which are associated with chronic chemotherapy. Which can leads to reduction in antioxidant content in patients.

Intake of vitamin c and vitamin E can even maintain antioxidant level in patients which can neutralize reactive antioxidants which can cause DNA damage and enhance the cancer growth. Patients who intake chemotherapy along with vitamin C and vitamin E have the ability to maintain all the biomarkers close to normal level.
